


Early Bird Community Author of the Year Award Application
You could become the next Community Author. The Black Authors Book Festival showcases authors from all over, however, the community votes on who will receive the prize of being recognized at the Festival during the honoring ceremony.
Your book could be fiction or non-fiction. Please read all of the rules as there are some genres that we do not accept. Past and current honorees are not eligible.
The winner will receive a Black Authors Community Author of the Year Award, notable media mention, a certificate, placement on our website, social media mention, mention in our newsletter, and the opportunity to read an excerpt from their book at the start of the honoring ceremony.
Submission Guidelines:
What books can be submitted - any published book, including self-publishing. Author books must be purchasable on major online bookstores.
Books that the we do not accept:
Textbooks, journals, books that promote hate, sexism, racism, abuse, horror, zodiac, astrology & numerology. However, if you’re not sure, please send us an email, prior to submission and we’ll help you discern.
Who can submit?:
Authors, publicists, girlfriends, boyfriends, neighbor, best friend, sister, brother, etc. Anyone can submit their work and anyone can submit on behalf of an author, however, only one submission per genre per author. Duplicate submissions will be disqualified and refunds will not be honored.
How do I submit?:
Mail an autographed copy to the attention of Darlene Williams to 385 Route 109 unit 1122 West Babylon, NY 11704 - include in the package your website, genre, email, and Certified Bank Check or United States Postal Money Order payable to: Black Authors Festival LLC - these are the only forms of acceptable payments.
Submission Cost:
You may submit only one book to each of the genres listed below. For each submission the cost is $99.00
Once your submission is received and accepted, you will receive an email from us letting you know when you will appear on our website and when you may begin promoting in the race to receive the most votes from the community. Votes will be submitted via email only - nationalblackauthorsfestival@gmail.com. The author with the most votes will win. Important Note: Only one vote per person per day. Multiple votes per day by the same person will not be counted. Your Full Name and the Full Name of Your Book must be included on the Subject Line and within the body of the email. Voting Ends Sunday, June 1, 2026.
All winners must make their own flight and hotel accommodations for Sag Harbor 2026.
BAF events, honorees, merchandise, items, schedules, etc. are always subject to change with or without notice. ALL SALES ARE FINAL ~THERE ARE NO REFUNDS. The use of cameras or other recording equipment is strictly prohibited during the author screenings. The BAF reserves the right to search the personal belongings of any patron/guest inside or around the premises. By purchasing a ticket and by entering the premises during the BAF, you agree to be photographed/filmed and grant BAF, its successors- signed parties, carrier stations, subsidiaries, advertising agents, and their affiliated entities, the right to record and use your likeness, voice, and name worldwide in perpetuity for any purpose whatsoever without compensation.
