I have a lot of awards and they all look alike for the most part. I have to read them to remember where I got it from because of the similarities. With the Black Authors Festival award, it is a beautiful stand alone
The Black Authors Festival is more than a celebration of Black literature-it is a declaration of cultural power and resistance. I was deeply moved by the intergenerational energy in Sag Harbor: elders, youth, authors, educators, and families coming together not just to read books, but to reclaim our stories. It was a reminder that literacy is not merely a skill, it is a survival tool, a passport to freedom, and a weapon against erasure. Thank you to BAF President Darlene Williams and everyone who makes this important day possible every year.
