About Darlene Williams
Darlene Williams is the visionary Founder and President of the Black Authors Festival®, a nationally recognized cultural literacy initiative dedicated to elevating Black literary excellence, protecting intellectual freedom, and expanding access to diverse voices and stories. Under her leadership, the festival has evolved into a premier national platform connecting authors, readers, scholars, thought leaders, and cultural influencers through meaningful dialogue, literary celebration, and community impact. The Black Authors Festival was recognized by USA Today as one of the Top 9 Best New Festivals in the Nation; in 2025, August was proclaimed Black Authors Festival Month in the Hamptons, followed by the designation of Black Authors Festival Month throughout Suffolk County, New York, in 2026.
A bestselling author, columnist, adjunct lecturer, Harvard-certified rhetorician, and certified personal and professional development coach, Darlene is recognized as a dynamic communicator and transformative thought leader committed to higher-level thinking, purposeful leadership, and meaningful social impact. Beyond her literary and professional accomplishments, she is pursuing a longtime personal dream: becoming a pilot—a testament to her belief that we should live fully, pursue purpose boldly, and die empty, having poured everything we were given into the world.
She is also the Founder of The Higher Level Method™, a transformational coaching and leadership framework designed to help individuals elevate their thinking, performance, and results. As a staunch advocate for civil rights, intellectual freedom, and cultural preservation, Darlene is especially passionate about combating book banning and protecting the right to read, write, and think freely. Darlene is a proud member of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Incorporated, and continues to embody the organization’s longstanding commitment to public service, scholarship, sisterhood, and social action through her work and community impact.
